These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of BOXPLA, a web application for searching model kits and calculating shipping-box arrangements (the "Service"), available at boxpla.app. The Service is operated by BOXPLA Inc. ("BOXPLA", "we", "us", or "our"), a company based in Canada.

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service. If you have questions, contact us at info@boxpla.app.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 15 years of age to create an account or use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and that the information you provide to us is accurate and complete. If you are using the Service in a jurisdiction that requires a higher minimum age for online services or for consent to the processing of personal data, you must meet that higher age.

2. The Service

BOXPLA lets you search a catalogue of model kits, view product details, build and track a personal collection (for example marking kits as wishlist, owned, building, or built), and calculate how kits fit into shipping boxes. The Service is currently provided free of charge. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Service at any time without notice.

Kit images and other media are served from our own infrastructure. Reference links displayed alongside kits may point to third-party retailers, manufacturers, or review sites. We do not control those third parties and are not responsible for their content, availability, pricing, or practices.

3. Your Account

You can register using your email address and a password, or by signing in with your Google account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us promptly at info@boxpla.app of any unauthorized use of your account. We are not liable for any loss arising from your failure to safeguard your credentials.

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent and cannot be undone: your account and all associated content — including your collection, wishlist, boxes, and saved calculations — are removed, except for limited information we must retain to meet legal obligations.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not, and must not attempt to, do any of the following:

• Scraping and automated harvesting. Use any robot, spider, scraper, crawler, headless browser, or other automated means to access, monitor, copy, harvest, index, or extract any data, content, or kit information from the Service, except for legitimate search-engine indexing that respects our robots directives.
• Reverse engineering. Decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, underlying ideas, structure, or algorithms of the Service, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
• Bulk extraction. Download, reproduce, or build a copy of all or a substantial part of the kit database or other content of the Service, whether by manual or automated means.
• Redistribution and resale. Sell, license, rent, lease, sublicense, publish, distribute, or otherwise commercially exploit any content or data obtained from the Service without our prior written permission.
• Circumvention. Bypass, disable, or interfere with any security feature, rate limit, access control, or technical measure of the Service, or probe, scan, or test its vulnerability.
• Illegal or harmful content. Post, upload, transmit, or store any content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, obscene, harassing, hateful, or that violates the rights of any person.
• Malicious code. Introduce any virus, worm, malware, or other harmful code, or take any action that imposes an unreasonable load on our infrastructure.
• Impersonation and misrepresentation. Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
• Interference. Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or the data it contains, or the access of any other user.

We may investigate and take appropriate action against anyone who, in our sole judgment, violates this section, including removing content, suspending or terminating accounts, and reporting conduct to law enforcement.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service and all of its contents — including the BOXPLA name and branding, the software, the user interface, the design, the compiled and organized kit database, text, graphics, and the selection and arrangement of all of the foregoing (collectively, the "BOXPLA Content") — are owned by BOXPLA Inc. or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, database, and other intellectual-property laws.

Reuse of our intellectual property is prohibited unless we grant you proper permission in advance. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, publicly display, frame, mirror, or create derivative works from any BOXPLA Content without our prior written consent. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your own non-commercial use. This licence does not include any right to scrape, bulk-extract, resell, or redistribute the Service or its data.

Product names, images, and trademarks of third-party manufacturers and retailers displayed in the Service remain the property of their respective owners and are used for identification and reference purposes only.

6. Promotion and Advertising

You are welcome to promote, recommend, link to, or advertise BOXPLA — for example by sharing links to the Service on social media, forums, blogs, or videos — provided that you do so accurately, do not imply that BOXPLA endorses you without our agreement, and do not misuse our name or branding in a misleading way. This permission to promote the Service does not grant any right to copy or reuse the BOXPLA Content beyond ordinary linking and fair reference.

7. User Content

Any data you add to your account — such as your collection entries, custom box dimensions, and notes — remains yours. By submitting it, you grant us a licence to store, process, and display it to you for the purpose of operating and providing the Service. You are responsible for the content you submit and confirm you have the right to submit it.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party providers such as Supabase (authentication, database, and transactional email) and Cloudflare (hosting, content delivery, security, and privacy-friendly visitor analytics). It may also display reference links that point to third-party retailers, manufacturers, or review sites. Your use of the Service may therefore also be subject to those parties' terms. We are not responsible for third-party services or content, and any dealings you have with third parties are solely between you and them.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the kit data, dimensions, packing calculations, prices, or other information provided through the Service are accurate, complete, or current. Box-fit and shipping calculations are estimates provided for convenience only; you are responsible for verifying measurements before relying on them.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will BOXPLA Inc., its directors, officers, employees, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the Service — whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), or any other legal theory, and whether or not we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the extent any liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100). Because the Service is provided free of charge, these limitations are a fundamental basis of the bargain between you and us. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you, in which case our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BOXPLA Inc. and its representatives from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

12. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will survive.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Canada and the laws of the province in which BOXPLA Inc. is located, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in that province for the resolution of any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have in your place of residence.
